Benevolence

Food donated during VBS 2015 delivered to Impact Church of Christ

In an effort to show the compassion of Christ to others, the West University congregation has always been engaged in various forms of charity, benevolence and relief work. When special needs arise around the world such as natural disasters, a special collection is often taken to help with those needs. When the need is closer to home where we can do more than send funds, we try to provide volunteers and supplies.

Locally, we have what we call a “care corner” in our church building, where we can supply those in need with non-perishable food. Also, at various times, we have special times set aside to bless those in need, such as back-to-school backpacks or a blessing of new shoes.

Outside the building, we often work through and with the Impact Church of Christ, a work which we support. We also assist some of the children’s homes in Texas with supplies and other needs that they share with us regularly. Also, we support The Point the college ministry on the University of Houston main campus; and the church plant in Temple, TX.

Medical housing: The congregation has contacts that may be able to assist those in need of housing while undergoing treatment at the Texas Medical Center. Please reach out to the church office if you are in need of this type of assistance.
