Kerry Lackey
Kerry and Melinda have been married for 22+ years since attending college ministry at Texas Tech University. They have 2 kids, twin boy and girl, Nathan and Natalie who enjoy being part of the youth group. Since 2009, Kerry has served as the building deacon and Melinda has served as the children’s minister. They like to travel with their kids, attend sports events, and are currently working on scouts. Kerry is a Civil Engineer and Melinda works as an Attorney. Kerry has been a Shepherd of the congregation since 2021.
Cameron Bird
Jim Taylor
Jim and Lou Ann Taylor have been members at West U Church of Christ since the early 1990s. Jim has served in many capacities here at West U, including worship leader, small group leader, and deacon before being ordained as a Shepherd in 2010. In addition to his leadership responsibilities at West U., Jim serves on the board of directors for The Point Campus Ministry at the University of Houston.
Hilton Merritt (elder emeritus)
Hilton Merritt has served in every church leadership capacity imaginable, including preaching ministry, church planting, and serving in academia. He and Avanell served at missionaries in Kenya for twelve years, and he continues to mentor ministry leaders in East Africa. He also has over 20 years of experience in the business world. Hilton and Avanell have been married over fifty years, and Avanell serves as a leader, teacher, and mentor among the women of West U. Hilton Merritt has been a shepherd since 2010. Hilton and Avanell count among their greatest joys their three daughters and several grandchildren.
